The Florida Green Building Coalition (FGBC) has stringent qualifications for certifying green home construction and techniques. Certified green homes must contain features from eight predetermined categories:
A home buyer can be confident that they are truly getting what they are being promised and what they are paying for. An FGBC Certified home must be inspected, tested, and certified by an independent certifying agent in order to receive a certificate stating “FGBC Green Certified Home”.
While you can expect the cost of a certified green home to be slightly more than a home built to minimum build code standards, a Certified Green Home costs less to operate and maintain. Certified Green homes are designed to operate at a savings of 30% or more over a conventionally built home.
When purchasing a FGBC Certified Green Home you can be sure that you are getting a home that is truly efficient, has a high degree of comfort, provides a healthier indoor environment for you and your family, and when it come time to sell your home will have a greater demand in the marketplace which results in greater value.
