First Annual Oakland Park 5K Scheduled for October 23, 2010

The community of Oakland Park and The West Orange Junior Service League is honored to announce the 1st Annual Oakland Park 5K Benefiting the West Orange Junior Service League will be held on Saturday, October 23rd!

In 1936 a group of women, now known at the West Orange Junior Service League, formed a non-profit organization. Their goal was to foster an interest among its membership in the social, economic, education, cultural, and civic needs of the communities of West Orange County.  Today, many local organizations rely on the League’s help not for the extras, but for the basics.

Nestled between Winter Garden and Oakland, OAKLAND PARK combines the architecture and colorful history of the region in a new traditional neighborhood community. The certified course will take participants along a scenic route under the historic Sadler oaks, around Lake Brim, and along the restored shoreline of Lake Apopka.
